I’d like to take this time to talk about the absolutely perfect sound design and music in Undertale. I think my favorite of the less talked about tracks is Dummy! the song that plays during the fight with Mad Dummy. It’s really similar to Spider Dance, but with a more lighthearted swingy tone. It sounds happy and silly which contrasts well with Muffet’s song. It makes Mad Dummy’s fight feel easier even though I died more often to him than Muffet. It was an interesting choice to make these two songs so similar. During a normal play through, a player might not even notice, but when you play them back to back, they are obviously linked. I believe it was just a time saving method rather than and symbolic connection between the two characters, but it’s fun to imagine the two might be closer to each other behind the scenes.
