Did you know that one of my Patrons, Whitney Valentine-Wafer, is actually the inventor of ACME Portable Holes? On cold nights you can find them at home huddled in a big fluffy robe perfecting the formula for trans-dimensional black paint. It’s true!
You know, a lot of times sit here and talk about complex characters, motivation, and development, but those aren’t the end all be all of character creation. I think what draws me to characters like Wile E Coyote is his drive and his reactions. On paper, he is a very simple character, but it’s the way he reacts to things that gives him life in my eyes. It gives me hope for my own writing, that even if I can’t come up with a nuanced and tragic backstory, I can still make a good character by the way they react to what’s going on around them. I don’t like Wile E Coyote because his parents died leaving him the last heir to ACME Tech mega corp. I love him because he makes me laugh, and sometimes that’s more than enough.
