Amie Allen isn’t a Patron, but they’re still pretty cool. Amie is only 8 months old and can already freeze things with a look. It’s been a challenge for Amie’s parents who had prepared for a child with a fire ability instead. Oops.
Valorant seems very similar to Overwatch. It’s team battles using a variety of heroes with different abilities. The cynical among you might claim that it’s just a ripoff, but I’d say Valorant does have it’s own flare. For one, there’s more of an emphasis on what players can see at a given time. A lot of characters have smoke bombs or can deploy sight obscuring walls and Sova here can highlight enemies behind cover and shoot through walls. Having ability effects be deliberately opaque leads to some interesting risk taking strategies. I like it. Is it enough for you to dump Overwatch over? Probably not.
I guess what I’m saying is that Valorant may not be the game that surpasses Overwatch, but that it adds on to it like an expansion with all new maps and characters. There are a lot of people out there who hyperfixate on which game is best when the truth is that you can really just play both games. They are both fun and worth playing.
Honestly, there is so much you can do with the hero shooter formula that calling Valorant an Overwatch clone is like calling I Love You, Colonel Sanders a Dream Daddy clone because they’re both humor dating sims with hot dudes.
